About
I’ve been writing with a purpose since primary school, when my teacher told my parents my daily news stories were always longer and more detailed than everyone else’s. Most of them were about football, which she was less keen on.
Since 2025 I’ve run marketing and communications at EGG Lighting: case studies, trade press, award entries, executive comment pieces, CPD content and the website. In that time the company won three awards, landed in Project Scotland and the Glasgow Chamber’s news pages, and was congratulated in a Scottish Parliament motion.
Before that I freelanced for 14 years. At peak I wrote for up to ten estate agency branches at once, including national franchises, working inside brand guidelines while keeping each branch local.
Alongside all of it, 20 years as a music journalist. I write BITS, a monthly column on new Scottish music for SNACK Magazine, host most of SNACK’s podcast, and run my own industry interview podcast, Letting The Days Go By. I’ve written for Is This Music? among others, published seven books across music, football and fiction including Rock N Roar: The Music of Scotland, and hosted three Book Week Scotland events for Scottish Book Trust.
I have a 2:1 in Economics and Marketing from the University of Strathclyde, which is probably why I check the numbers.
